This app is derived from a word-association study from the University of South Florida. It was created from interviews with about 6,000 subjects (more information here).

When you press go, the application finds the first-degree associates of those words, keeping only the results which are linked to at least 2 of your input words. If one of your words is not within 2° of the other words, the application calls on a c++ app that finds intermediary nodes. It then runs the algorithm again, sending the data to Graphviz for rendering.
